Marine Control Stations & Components

From a functional perspective, boat controls are divided into two large categories: single-lever, dual-function stations and twin-lever models in which each lever performs its own task – altering RPMs or shifting gears from the neutral to the forward or backward one. Many older boats were equipped with the second type, i.e. two levers having a cable connection with the engine. However, many boaters find a single-lever station more practical, as you can control the motor using one hand while the second one can hold the steering wheel. Besides, you physically can't change gears at high RPMs, which reduces the potential risk of damaging the gearbox.

Meanwhile, many modern boats come with electronic control systems using electrical wiring instead of cables. Such systems offer more flexibility in selecting the place of installation and greater functionality, especially on boats with two engines. Outfitted with a two-lever station, some of such boats allow you to choose a single-lever operation mode or even use an auxiliary joystick for convenient maneuvering at low speed. Actually, on different boats, you can shift from one type of control to another, and whether you want to make an upgrade or just restore your existing setup, the necessary equipment and replacement parts are available in our online store.
