Whatever engine is installed on your powerboat, an inboard or outboard one, its long operation is impossible without a cooling system. Depending on its type, the system may use outboard water circulating through the engine block and head (a so-called "raw water" open-loop system) or the mixture of freshwater and antifreeze working in a closed loop. But in most setups, the hoses transferring liquid play a big role, and their characteristics have to be properly selected in accordance with their tasks and environment. For instance, raw water hoses feature PVC, fabric, or even stainless steel reinforcement to resist kinking and collapsing if the system gets clogged.
As for the hoses containing antifreeze, they should be resistant to high temps and aggressive chemicals. Besides, there are some additional requirements about their flexibility, minimal bend radius, and the number of clamps on each end, which may refer to both of the abovementioned types.
