MotorGuide was established to provide fishermen with a trolling motor that works for them. Today, the company is one of the favorite brands for avid anglers as well as those who have a strong wish to be. Built with a foot pedal, that system allowed for foot-controlled operation. Herschede Hall Clock Co. in Starkville stuck a deal with the creator to build this new design called the Guide-Rite.
Later Guide-Rite was renamed MotorGuide.
