Easy to read, high-resolution displays with myriads of features will be the hub of your onboard network. Your eyes and ears when you are off-shore, multifunction displays combine a radar, sonar, cartography, wireless connectivity and internet browsing.
Multifunction displays and combos are created to make your boating experience more pleasant and less stressful by making complex devices easy to use and interpret. Instead of reading a number of monitors responsible for separate devices, multifunction displays allow you to simultaneously control the data received from your radar and GPS and monitor different performance parameters of your boat all from one display! Multiple displays can be connected together to create a comprehensive network of your marine electronics. Commonly used types of networks include NMEA 0183, NMEA 2000, CAN Bus and Ethernet-based networks.
As for the diagonal size of the display, it may range from modest 4 to 6 inches units to large 12+ inch monitors. Color and Grayscale configurations can be had. Apart from that, customers may choose from units with different resolution, usually categorized into low, medium and high resolution displays, the most advanced monitors boasting 1280 x 800 resolution. As for additional features, both multifunction displays and combos typically feature an inbuilt GPS antenna, some may also have a transducer and a pre-loaded cartography included.
