If you don’t use your boat all year round and want to extend its service life, make sure it's reliably protected during the off-season. For most boaters, it means winterizing a vessel, and the list of measures includes preparing the fuel system and drivetrain, changing old lube that may contain water, servicing a battery, and performing some other procedures. In the meantime, if the vessel is stored outdoors, in a dusty garage, or in other places where the risk of contamination is high, covering a boat with a strong material is warmly recommended.
Shrink wrap systems are an excellent way to keep the boat clean and well-protected from dust, rain, snow, bird droppings, and some other factors. Shrink wrap materials offered by such leading brands as Dr.Shrink or Poly-America are resistant to weather elements and UV radiation, and you can choose the necessary size and thickness to provide the best coverage. If the winter is harsh with lots of snow, you may need a thicker, heavy-duty material. Also, if you're going to use boat shrink wrap, consider extra ventilation by adding several vents or doors. Otherwise, condensed water can be trapped inside the boat causing mildew.
