The steering system is crucial for excellent boat handling and performance. The combination of propeller torque, engine horsepower, and boat speed produce certain load on the steering system. It results in variation of steering forces from boat to boat and motor to motor. When selecting a steering system for your vessel, pay attention to the following factors. When the horsepower and speed of the boat accelerate, steering forces enlarge as well. Protection from a ruinous effect of the environment is a primary task of boat maintenance. Salt water contains sodium, sulfate, calcium, and chloride. All these chemicals can cause corrosion that leads to the damage or improper operation of the steering cable, as the metal in these areas becomes thinner. It may be quite pricey to get rid of the effects of corrosion, that’s why it is advisable to prevent them. The cable output end and the engine tilt tube have to be purified and coated with a marine lubricant. We offer hydraulic steering fluids that prevent foaming, corrosion, and wear and tear of steering cables.
