Every time you enter the dock, you run the risk of damaging the topsides of your boat with protruding dock structures as well as causing serious damage to the dock itself. To help you reduce the dangers of docking, it is recommended to equip your dock with dock bumpers, wheels and cushions that will protect your vessel while it is moored at the dock. Made from durable rubber, foam, vinyl and PVC, dock bumpers can easily withstand harsh weather conditions as well as shocks of bumping against your boat sides. Yet another useful piece of equipment every dock should have is a dock lift. When your boat is not in use for a long period of time and remains in the water, it may suffer from the effect of dirty water staining its sides as well as face even more serious effects of strong winds, waves and tides smashing the topsides of your vessel against the surface of the dock. An easy solution to both problems is a dock lift which holds your boat up and out of the water. Most commonly used types of dock lifts are manually operated, though electronic and hydraulic units can be had as well.
